Back on the wagon

After enjoying many holiday treats, I am getting back on the diet again. Yesterday I ate healthy for breakfast and lunch, but ate some snacks for the Monday Night football game. Once you go back on the diet, I feel like you should slowly go back. Yesterday was a warm up, and today I have eaten healthy. I weighed 190 lbs this morning.

Before diet

190 lbs!!
Will have a meal here and there that is unhealthy. Mainly due to the holidays. For example we had pizza for lunch yesterday. For supper I had grapes, carrots, and a salad. Nothing else for the rest of the night.

About 194 lbs. Have been eating a few Holiday treats. That can be expected at this time of year. But I have been eating a lot less of them that I have in the past. Christmas brunch tomorrow and Christmas food next weekend. Looking forward to lots of good food, but won't go overboard. Plus, I feel more full after a few unhealthy treats than I did in the past.
I was a bit crabby on Wednesday as I wasn't enjoying what I was eating.
I have been very successful on this diet. I will continue this diet until I reach about 180. When I am at a weight I am happy with, I will continue to eat lots of veggies and fruit. Will add more meats and rice, but won't go crazy with it. It is nice to be aware of how healthy foods affect how you look on the outside and how you feel in the inside.

Still going

Had prime rib at work Thursday as it was a free amazing dinner. I'm not passing up limited good holiday food and am still losing weight.

About 199 lbs today. Feel good. Not able to exercise because of the snow. Planning on getting a treadmill for Christmas. Shoveled snow today. I guess that's some exercise.
What I am eating lately:
Broccoli
Spinach
Fruits: Bananas, grapes, oranges
Veggie Chili

Packer Game!

Had an amazing time in Green Bay! Ate well on the way down there. Would probably have eaten poorly in Green Bay, but all of the good resurants were too busy. Ate a tuna sub at Subway. Drank plenty of beer. It was crazy how you can just walk around with beer on the sidewalks. Nut roll on the way back. One slice of Pizza this afternoon as I felt like I should eat it. Mind you, I usually eat like half a pizza. Will not weigh myself today. Plan to eat well for the rest of the day.

Green Bay tomorrow!

I weight 200 lbs as of yesterday! Pretty amazing feat! Tomorrow I will be driving with a friend to Green Bay for the Monday night Packer Game. So pumped! Am sure to be eating/drinking a little unhealthy. Oh well, can't pass this up!

Good Food

Doesn't this look good?
1 egg scrambled, no milk
Broccoli, red bell pepper, spinach
Garlic, ground pepper, crushed red pepper

Tasted awesome and I added no salt! I feel more sensitive to taste. Feel good about life.

OK go

Today is less motivating as I didn't lose any weight. The first 4 days had drastic weight loss. It was probably all of the loss of salt that was retaining fluid in my body. I felt great at work and really didn't feel hungry or have cravings to eat unhealthy foods. Usually I pig out on my free meal and deserts, but yesterday I didn't have any cravings to give in.
The cramp in my foot may be a small sprain from when I went running the other day. I haven't been able to run due to the cold weather and SNOW!
I obtained tickets to the Monday night Packer game. It is a six hour drive to Green Bay, but this only happens a few times in a life time...if you don't have season tickets or buy tickets off ebay.
I plan to bring easy fruit and veggies to snack on in the car. I will to go out to eat with a friend at some point.

Still going strong

Weigh about 203 lbs this morning. I have a weird cramp in my foot that started last night. No bananas today. I'm starting to see how inconvenient this diet is. My wife and I went Christmas shopping and she wanted to go out to eat. I didn't want to and I was crabby. Possibly because of my diet or because I wasn't taking my pill. We settled on "The Good Earth," which is a healthy restaurant. The salt intake was my concern. I had veggies in a sauce that had sodium, but a lot of garlic as well. It was hard for me to tell if it was a lot of salt or just garlic and spices that gave it flavor. It tasted awesome though.
Goes to show how unhealthy America is. You can't just go out and find a super healthy good meal. Everything has salt in it.
I got radishes the other day and dip them in lemon or lime juice. My 2 year old eats them as well.
No exercise yesterday or today as it is very cold outside. It snowed last night.
I had an egg for breakfast with grapes and coffee. Radishes for a snack. Will have salmon for lunch. Not sure what will happen for dinner as I will be at work. We eat for free at work, which is so handy and nice that I don't have to pay for a meal. I may eat some veggies or salad that they have. I'll bring plenty of fruit along as well.

Feeling good

Day 3 of my new diet. Banana and coffee for breakfast. Made lentil beans today. I am allowed 1 cup of beans per day which is a ton! I don't feel as hungry as I did the last 2 days because of the beans.
I Boiled the dried beans and drained them. Added my new favorite dressing to it: Balsamic vinegar, little bit of mustard, ground pepper, garlic, and lime juice. This is the greatest substitute for salt. The mustard has some sodium, but very little. Yesterday I didn't use mustard in the dressing. The other ingredients don't have any sodium!
I will have the beans throughout the day. I may have a poached egg for supper if I am feeling hungry. This is the best diet ever!!!
Last night I ran outside as it was only 45 degrees out. I ran double of what I usually run without stopping!! Maybe this is all in my head, but I feel like I have more energy.
I haven't taken my Citalopram for 3 days now and I don't feel any withdrawal effects yet. If I start feeling any wooshing in my head (my normal withdrawal feeling), I will go back on it.
I bought some Kambucha tea last night as a treat for me. Only 30 calories, but so expensive!

New Diet

So I have been on the "Eat to Live" diet for two days now. I weighed myself on the first and second day, but not very seriously. It may have been that I weighed myself at two odd times of the day, but I swear I was at 215 lbs the first day. I am now at 210 lbs. Is it possible that I lost 5 pounds already? I am not sure. From now on I will weigh myself daily in the morning before I eat anything.
So far I have been enjoying my new diet. I get to be creative to make my meals enjoyable. I get hungry more often, but then I just eat some fruits or veggies and fulfill my hunger. I enjoyed the past 2 supper meals. Spinach salad with baked chicken with balsamic vinegar and lime juice.
My super skinny sister-in-law and brother-in-law were my motivation. They are cool people that make eating healthy look cool and fun to do. My sister-in-law brought up her diet that she does once in a while: For a few weeks eat nothing but broccoli and chicken. I wanted to do this, but the "Eat to Live" diet seemed much more reasonable and can be a life long diet.
She also introduced me to unsweetened ice tea. To me, iced tea is an acquired drink, just as much as coffee. I have never liked it so much, but it is growing on me. She says its a hunger suppressant, but more importantly, it is more healthy than coffee.
Here is a rundown of what I have been eating for the past 2 days.

Day 1:
Breakfast: Coffee and heated up broccoli.
Snacks: Banana, celery, carrots
Lunch: Baked chicken and carrots
Snacks: more celery, broccoli, and carrots
Dinner: Spinach salad with chicken, red bell pepper, green onion, balsamic dressing
I also drank 2 glasses of red wine with my supper and drank about 4-5 glasses of iced green tea throughout the day.

Day 2:
Did not have hunger sensation in the morning
Breakfast: Banana and coffee
Did not feel much hungry until luchtime
Lunch: Another banana, broccoli, carrots, spinach, some red bell pepper, celery.
I have been using lime juice and cayenne pepper on my broccoli and it tastes great!
Snacks: celery, carrots
Supper: Same chicken and spinach salad
Red wine and grapes (not together) after supper

New Life

I am just starting the "Eat to Live Diet" that was created by Dr. Joel Fuhrman. I am using this blog to record my progression. If I am successful, I hope to give others out there motivation for this diet.
I currently weigh 215 pounds. I have high blood pressure. I enjoy eating unhealthy foods. I enjoy drinking coffee and alcohol. I am on Citalopram for anxiety.
Here is hoping to a new healthy life!
